DIRECTIONS From Birmingham , take US 78 west to Jasper, about 35 miles. US 78 has been re routed. US 78 will turn left and Highway Al 5 will continue straight. There may still be signs saying US 78 on Al 5. Continue STRAIGHT on Al 5. You will see a Walmart on your left. Counting the light at Walmart, take a right at the third traffic light. This will be North Airport Road. See Jasper directions below. If coming from West of Jasper, US 78 has been rerouted around Jasper. You will need to exit US 78on to Al 118. (This is the old US 78.) US 118 will merge with Al 5. Continue straight on Al 5 (old U.S. 78) You will see McDonalds on the left. Take the first left past McDonalds on North Airport Road. See Jasper directions below. From I 65 in Cullman, take the HWY 69 South exit and go south until you reach Al 5. Take a right on Al 5 and look for Walmart on your left. Counting the light at Walmart, take a right at the third traffic light. This will be North Airport Road: See Jasper directions below; From Jasper, Travel down North Airport Road about 4 miles. At the intersection of Airport Road and HWY 257 (Curry Road) continue straight for about ½ mile. Turn left on Plum Street and right on Bluegrass Lane. ***********************************IMPORTANT CHANGES PLEASE READ******************************************* After we published the directions to the rendezvous site at Blackwater Park in Jasper, the road names were changed. The new stretch of road between Graysville and Mississippi that was called Corridor X was opened and is called US 78 (future I 22). We now have two roads called US 78. If you are on the new US 78 take exit 65 to hwy Al 5. This is the old US 78. If you are on the old US 78 it turns into AL 5 in Jasper. The new US 78 does not show on my GPS, Just remember to turn off Al 5 (old US 78) and go North on Airport road. |
